I did. Despite being 'rush hour' with people coming out of St Pancras toward kent we got seats on the train at about 6.25. From then an easy walk from SI station through Westfield (before they apparently stopped access at 6.45) and then we hit crowds leaving the Westfield complex where they have the barricades up. Slow walk up to the swimming pool where we could resume normal pace then straight through the turnstiles. Good as I'd imagined it would be.

On the way back we left a good 5-10 minutes after the final whistle- lots of people trying to get back the same way toward westfield. Slowed right down but kept moving the whole time. When we peeled off left toward SI station, the vast majority were going to the tube so it was a walk at our own pace after that. No queue at all for the train back to st pancras so we were able to walk right to the platform and wait the first train. Only problem came when it was delayed about 7 minutes. Platform got full but everyone got on the train when it came. Pretty smooth journey to be honest and quicker for me to get home than from Upton Park, even with leaving the stadium a while after the whistle.

BUT- there was a huge queue for trains going East from SI station, so fuck that. There must have been people waiting for quite some time, although the trains were regular. They were letting people down to the platform in batches in order to keep it getting overcrowded. Pretty well managed, but I'd imagine it was a bit of a long journey home for those going East.

Wembley 1989

I used Stratford International station car park.
It was a doddle in and out.

Up to six hours for £3.10

In and out through Hackney Wick was a piece of piss. No queues at all.

Re: Logistics of the OS
I must have been the lucky one.. left on 85 mins.... ran/walked thru the masses to stratford station. Got the 9.38 to Norwich. Was at home in Colchester by 10.35. Happy days

Re: Logistics of the OS
Regarding Pudding Mill Lane was their barriers up slowing people down and was it just a case of quickly jumping on the train to Stratford from there? Any queues etc?

I'm thinking about using it all the time as the queues to Stratford were a bit of a pain.

Re: Logistics of the OS
Pudding mill was easy. Was thinking about driving to future games but will do the dlr instead now after seeing that.

I walked past it after (did not use it as I was 15 minutes from something a lot more direct for me)

It was in operation but you certainly could miss the entrance if you were not looking for it. Lots of construction around.

Yeah it was running as normal.

Did anyone go via Pudding Mill Lane before/after the game?

Re: Logistics of the OS
Going coming from Liv St to Stratford and then walk through Westfield is a bit of a ballache

Stratford central line platform just isnt designed for that many people and sending people through Westfield werent the best

Around the ground though the queues were small and didnt feel as congested as what it probably was

Re: Logistics of the OS
Almost empty on the Hammersmith line.

In fact I saw the cutest thing probably 4-5 cars down. West Ham full kit family with dead tired parents slump down in their seats but their little girl (probably 6-7) is having none of it and spends the whole trip pirouetting in the middle of the car while hanging on.

Re: Logistics of the OS
Ended up on Stratford Walk rather than Mountfichet...assuredly one of the 'queues' was slower than the other, and the staggered flow mean if you missed one flow it could cost 20 mins?

Re: Logistics of the OS
Is true, but at least trains to Shenfield are every 8 minutes or less. Trains to Southend once every 30.

Stubbo - how did you manage that?!? I left at full time and was there by 22:05.

Re: Logistics of the OS

You'll still have the problem of using Greater Anglia. West Ham can go on about great transport links all they want but Greater Anglia just can't handle that amount of people, it was sardines and crushes on every train I saw...

Re: Logistics of the OS
Would always rather walk than queue.

Took a tiny bit to figure out the how in the dark as I had never been up there before for anything. But walking down Bow Road station pretty much like walking to Plaistow for me.

Also, pubs were rammed before ko but were pretty empty after

Re: Logistics of the OS
Massive nightmare getting home.

Left the stadium at 9.35. Got to Stratford station via 'the queue' at 10.20. Missed the 10.22 to Southend through weight of people trying to get to a platform.

Abellio cunts shitty trains then secured a train failure for the 10.52...next train 11.22...finally home at 00.30. 3 fucking hours...could have driven to Leeds in that time!

Will be seeking alternative options on Sunday.

Is there anywhere near the ground worth parking? Otherwise looks like park at Chelmsford or Shenfield, them on the way home PML to Stratford to beat the queue, and first train heading that way to Shenfield.

Re: Logistics of the OS
Left the bobby more stand head right towards the red monstrosoty tower cut down through carpenters estate and was in the queens head in west ham lane 18 mins after leaving my seat. Had 2 pints and walked through the stratford centre and straight on to sn empty central line 1 1/2 hrs after the game finished, walked through my front door 20mins later.

Couldnt have gone any better to be honest
